Portsmouth are unlikely to sign any free agents after completing their summer squad rebuild with twelve new arrivals.
Manager John Mousinho confirmed the stance as the club prepares for a home game against Blackburn this Friday. Portsmouth currently sit 18th in the Championship with seven points from six matches, having drawn 0-0 with Charlton in their last outing.
"We’ve taken a look at a number of foreign markets as well as further English free agents who were left out of our list earlier this week," Mousinho said. But he indicated the club's business is effectively done.
This comes despite a number of other Championship sides, including rivals Southampton and Burnley, continuing to explore the pool of unattached players. Over twenty experienced professionals remain available, including a 29-year-old midfielder whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain was terminated this month. That player, formerly of Celtic and Swansea City, is seeking regular football after scoring 15 goals in 94 appearances for Turkish side Samsunspor last season.
Mousinho's focus is now on integrating his summer signings and managing a lengthy injury list. Connor Ogilvie, Franco Umeh, Josh Murphy, Keshi Anderson, Luke Brooke-Smith and Márk Kosznovszky are all currently sidelined. Fans can check the latest team news and the full squad on the club site.
