Portsmouth are set to win the race to sign Dundalk and Northern Ireland U21 forward Eoin Kenny.

What's the latest on the transfer?

Pompey had a slow start to the summer transfer window but they are becoming very active now and recently announced their first signing in the form of Odin Bailey. They could be set to announce their 2nd signing now with a deal close for Kenny, who has been omitted from Dundalk’s squad for their game away to Shelbourne on Friday night, ahead of confirmation of his move.

Why is Kenny a key signing for Portsmouth?

Kenny has been in excellent form over the past 18 months, registering 19 goals and 14 assists in 62 appearances across all competitions, and is capable of playing all across the frontline. He could prove to be a brilliant addition both in the long and short-term for Portsmouth, who are currently 18th in the Championship with 55 points from 46 games, and recently drew 1-1 with Birmingham on 2026-05-02.

What does this mean for Portsmouth's squad?

Pompey’s wide and attacking midfield positions are certainly areas to watch this summer, with key players such as Josh Murphy and Adrian Segecic linked with moves away. Should suitable offers arrive, Portsmouth are likely to consider them, and any departures would leave gaps that need filling, making Kenny's signing a timely boost. With their next fixture away to Aldershot Town on 2026-07-15, Portsmouth will be looking to strengthen their squad and make a push up the table, currently 40 points behind leaders Coventry.
