Portsmouth midfielder Rocco Shein has asked not to be considered for Estonia during the upcoming international break. The 23-year-old summer signing is prioritising his club season after a mixed start to life in the Championship.
Baltic Football News said Shein "has asked not to join the national team for the upcoming matches." Estonia coach Jurgen Henn will now prepare for Nations League games without the player, who has 25 senior caps.
Shein joined Pompey from Norwegian side Fredrikstad for a reported fee. He has been a regular feature under manager John Mousinho, starting six of the club's seven matches this season and scoring twice. However, he has been substituted in each of his last four starts, typically around the 60-minute mark, as he adapts to the league's demands.
Portsmouth currently sit 18th in the Championship with seven points from six games.
While Shein stays at the training base, teammate Terry Devlin has been called into a Northern Ireland squad for their Nations League games. Attacker Adrian Segecic, meanwhile, is with the Croatia Under-21s for European Championship qualifiers.
The club's focus swiftly returns to league action after the break.
