Portsmouth defender Regan Poole has publicly expressed his strong desire for head coach John Mousinho to remain at the club, despite recent reports linking the manager with a move away from Fratton Park. Mousinho, who has been at the helm for three and a half years, has overseen significant progress, including promotion from League One.

Poole, speaking to BBC Radio Solent, emphasized his personal and professional connection with Mousinho. "I hope he doesn't leave," Poole stated. "He's really good for me as a fellow centre-half, there's no surprise that he has interest as he's done a really good job at this football club. I've got a really good relationship with him and he has full belief in me which definitely helps me. I hope he remains here."

John Mousinho's successful tenure at Portsmouth has naturally attracted attention, with Bristol City reportedly showing interest in the Blues boss. During his time at Pompey, Mousinho guided the team to promotion from League One and has since navigated two challenging campaigns in the Championship, solidifying Portsmouth's position in the division.

Portsmouth recently secured their Championship status in late April, alleviating relegation fears with a crucial run of three consecutive wins. This impressive streak saw Pompey defeat Middlesbrough, Ipswich, and Leicester within an intense eight-day period, a testament to the team's resilience after a heavy defeat at QPR in March.

Regan Poole himself had a robust season, making 42 appearances across all competitions. This strong showing marked a significant comeback for the defender, who had an injury-hit previous campaign, recovering from a ruptured ACL and a calf injury. His consistent presence was vital for Portsmouth's defensive efforts.

Poole credited the team's strong mentality for their survival, noting that many other teams might have "crumbled" after setbacks like the QPR loss. He acknowledged that while the season wasn't "good enough" initially, the group's determination to avoid another relegation fight pushed them to give "absolutely everything" under immense pressure to secure their Championship future. Portsmouth will conclude their season with a home fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday.
