Portsmouth Derby Rescheduled
Southampton FC's upcoming game against Portsmouth has been rescheduled to Sunday, October 11, with a 12pm kick-off.
Why it matters for Portsmouth
The rescheduled match is part of the Championship season, with Southampton FC currently 18th in the league, having scored 49 goals and conceded 64.
What comes next?
The team will face Cardiff in their next fixture at home on September 5.
Southampton FC has seen six of their Championship matches for the upcoming 2026/27 season moved for TV. The picks include new dates for the first south coast derby against Portsmouth of the season, as well as a new-found rivalry with Middlesbrough.
As anticipated, Saints will now host Pompey on Sunday, October 11 with a 12pm kick-off. They will also host Boro in the first half of the season, this time on Friday, November 27.
Additionally, home matches against Derby County, Burnley and West Ham United will be televised and have new kick-off times. The trip to West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday, November 3 has also been moved to a 8pm kick-off.
Saints' home clash with Middlesbrough will be the sides' first meeting since Saints beat Boro 2-1 in extra-time in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final.
At least, it will be as long as the two clubs avoid a very unlikely meeting in the Carabao Cup third round or beyond.
That saw Tonda Eckert's team progress to the play-off final on aggregate, but Saints were later expelled from the richest game in football for authorising spying missions on three clubs, one of whom were Boro.
Middlesbrough replaced Saints in the Wembley fixture, but were beaten 1-0 by Hull City who were subsequently promoted to the Premier League.
