Kalvin Phillips will be available for Sheffield United's Championship visit to Fratton Park on Wednesday. The midfielder missed the Blades' 3-0 win over Lincoln City on Saturday as a precaution but has travelled with the squad.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed the news ahead of the trip south. "Kalvin's fit and available," Wilder said. "I'm delighted that he is and delighted that we're travelling down to Portsmouth this afternoon." The Manchester City loanee had been managing a tight abductor but could have featured at the weekend.

Wilder's side will look to build on their weekend victory, which ended a run of three consecutive defeats. The manager will also be able to call upon the recent returns of Tahith Chong, Ryan One and Harrison Burrows, who all featured against Lincoln.

Seriki remains sidelined

Wilder provided a less positive update on defender Femi Seriki. The right-back will miss the matches against Portsmouth and Bristol City this weekend as he continues his recovery from a knee injury sustained in August. "He won't be available for Wednesday night and Saturday," the manager stated. "We need to build him up. It's a difficult one with no reserve games either." Wilder indicated Seriki could target a return for the Derby County fixture on 24 October.

In Seriki's absence, summer signing Hamza Choudhury has deputised at right-back. "Hamza has done great in that position, but Femi coming back in is really important," Wilder added.

The returns of Chong, One and Burrows meant there was no squad place for defender Rhys Norrington-Davies in the last match, who was linked with a move to Portsmouth during the summer.

Portsmouth, who sit 16th in the Championship with 11 points from nine games, will be without several players through injury. Head coach John Mousinho is missing Conor Shaughnessy, Benjy Arthur, Connor Ogilvie, Luke Brooke-Smith, Thomas Waddingham, Franco Umeh and Mark Kosznovszky. The Blues' last outing was a 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the south-coast derby, a result that leaves them four places behind Sheffield United, who are 12th with 13 points.

Wednesday's match is a quick turnaround for both sides. Portsmouth then travel to face 20th-placed Norwich City on Saturday, 17 October. Check the club's upcoming fixtures for the full schedule.
